Hiring

  • How does the hiring process work?

We will pre-screen candidates and only send you the best resumes. You then decide which candidates to interview and hire. If none are suitable, we will continue searching until we find the right candidate.

  • Once I decide whom to hire, how soon can they start?

Allow at least 3 days so you can sign and return the Client Services Agreement and automatic direct debit or credit card form. Once we have received these forms, we will install the staff’s time tracking software so they are ready for their 1st shift. All paperwork must be completed prior to the staff’s start date.

  • What home office set-up must the contractor have?

The contractor is required to have somewhere quiet to work, normally a separate room within their house. They also must have a reliable DSL Internet connection and suitable working computer.

  • How do you attract the best candidates?

Start with a great job description outlining why your company is a great place to work. When interviewing its important to sell the merits of your company.

  • Do you offer a trial?

Yes, you can trial someone for up to one month and then decide if you would like to hire them full or part-time. You are required to pay for the trial in advance.

  • What if I want to terminate a contractor?

During the first six months the staff is on a probation period. During this time you can terminate them within 24 hours. After six months, 14 days notice is required.

  • What time zone and hours will they work?

They will work your preferred time zone. Full time employees work 9 hours with a 1-hour lunch break and part time work 4 hours per day.

  • Why should I use your service instead of scouting for candidates myself?

Very simply there is a huge amount of work that goes into hiring offshore staff. We pre screen candidates, do reference checks and take care of payroll and HR requirements. There is a lot that should go into the process, such as advertising across multiple job websites and searching large resume databases, short-listing applicants, interviewing, collecting references, testing, etc.

Managing

  • Whats the best way to manage my offshore staff?

Treat them like they are in the same office and keep the lines of communication open.

  • How does the Virtual Coworker online management system work?

“Time Tracker¬†Application” our online management system automatically captures the contractor’s hours worked. The application also takes random snapshots of the contractor’s screen every ten (10) minutes interval.

Paying

  • What currency am I billed in?

Australian Dollars (AUD) or US Dollars (USD)

  • How does the invoicing work?

Your 1st invoice is for the remaining work days for that month. This must be paid prior to your employee starts works. On 1st of each month you will receive an invoice for 1 month in advance and adjusted for actual hours worked in the previous month. Your credit card will automatically be charged on the 5th of the month. As you can imagine its very important that all contractors are paid on time.

  • What payment types do you accept?

We accept both Visa and Mastercard and there are NO surcharges for using credit cards. Australian customers also have the option of using automatic direct debit.

  • What if the employee is sick or wants to take holidays?

There is no sick or holiday pay, you only pay for hours worked.

  • What about overtime?

Overtime is charged at the normal regular rate.

  • What about Public Holidays?

Its up to you if you would like the employee to work on public holidays. Some employees will request to have off during Philippines public holidays.
